Sypnosis: The TSA (Triple Ship Alliance) begin their advances to Messiah, with the Minerva hot on Archangel's tracks. Both the Reqiuem and Neo GENESIS cannons are being prepared to fire again. ORB is in a state of chaos. Rey begins attacking Justice with his DRAGOONs as Athrun blocks the shot with his shield and returns fire. Kira unleashes his DRAGOON units and tells Athrun to stick with the Archangel. Justice is to penetrate the shield on Requiem. Kira's DRAGOON units begin firing at Destiny as Shinn attempts to dodge the attacks. Shinn unleashes his Beam Shield when Kira proceeds to use his Rail Guns and Beam Rifles, which seem to penetrate the shield (since the Rail Guns are physical projectiles). Shinn gets knocked back.
Murrue says that if they go, then it leaves him and the Eternal in a dangerous situation. Lacus tells her that they must protect ORB, if they fail here, ORB is their last hope. A few Blaze ZAKU Warriors begin fire upon the Eternal while Mwu defends them with the beam barrier (as used in Phase 49). The DOMs under the red effects of the "Jet Stream Attack" quickly fly through and dispose of two ZAKUs and a GOUF. Dearka's Black Blaze ZAKU Phantom asks Yzak in his White GOUF what they're going to do. Yzak tells him to cover the Eternal. He tells that the Eternal is a ZAFT ship.
The Archangel turns away with the Infinite Justice. Rey complains what the Minerva is doing letting the Archangel off like that. Kira unleashes his DRAGOONs once again as Rey detects a Newtype flash. He dodges a few of the DRAGOON beams and blocks the last with his shield. Shinn flies in and tries to cover Rey, he begins firing at Freedom. (Note: Freedom with his DRAGOONs deployed DOES make it look like he has Wings of Light, like Destiny) Kira blocks with his shield while Shinn activates his Wings of Light. Kira enters SEED mode. Shinn unleashes his Beam Cannon which Kira counters with his torso beam. The beams cancel as Legend uses his docked DRAGOONs on Freedom. Kira dodges with a backflip. Rey tells Shinn that he should be with the Minerva to take down Athrun and the Archangel. Rey says that Freedom will be taken down by him and that Justice is the one to be taken down by him.
Kira watches Shinn fly off as he detects a Newtype flash of his own. Rey's DRAGOONs come together and fire as Kira flies off to dodge the attack. Kira unleashes both his Beam Shields to deflect 2 of Rey's DRAGOONs. He pushes forward and comes to a realisation. He detects the pilot of Legend as Rau Le Creusset. Kira seems very confused, he is unable to believe that he is sensing Rau. Meanwhile Shinn is hot on Athrun's trail. Legend unleashes his Beam Javelin and flies towards Freedom. Kira unleashes his saber as the two forces clash. (Cut away to opening).
Kira and Rey clash again as both of them release their DRAGOON units. Kira dodges several attacks and fires with his beam rifle, destroying one of Rey's DRAGOONs. He curses out why it was happening again. Rey controls his DRAGOONs around him and fire at Freedom. Kira dodges with another backflip. Meanwhile the Akatsuki and Infinite Justice take down a GOUF and Zaku Warrior. Akatsuki unleashes his DRAGOONs and disables a mob of GOUFs and ZAKUs. The Archangel fires it's Gottfried cannons through a damaged Nazca ship. The Archangel detects the Minerva hot on their trails. The two exchange fire.
Lunamaria emerges with Impulse. She shoots down two Murasames. Athrun emerges and Lunamaria is frozen at the sight of Justice and it's pilot, Athrun. Athrun does likewise with Impulse and Lunamaria. Lunamaria gets angry and shoots at Athrun, telling him what he's done with Meyrin. Athrun blocks the blast and tells Lunamaria to stop. She yells and tells him not to run away. She unleashes her Beam Saber and attempts to slash at Justice. Athrun uses his Knee-Cutter and cuts off Impulse's right arm, holding the beam saber. Lunamaria is shocked. Athrun says that he doesn't want to strike down Impulse. Lunamaria gets angry and fires with her vulcans. Athrun brandishes his Beam Boomerang and throws it at Impulse, taking out the right leg.
Suddenly Shinn emerges yelling, "Luna!" Shinn gets angry and fires with his Beam Cannon which Athrun dodges. Shinn asks if Luna was alright. Lunamaria is relieved that Shinn is there for her rescue. Destiny unlesahes it's Wings of Light with the Anti-Ship Sword in his hand. He calls Athrun an enemy and closes in on him. Athrun unleashes his double-sided beam saber and the two clash. Shinn tells him that he will fight for Luna and goes into Seed mode. Destiny's thrusters pushes Justice, which is still in stalemate with Destiny, attempting to crash Justice into the surface of the Moon. Luna cries out the names, "Shinn! Athrun!"
Meanwhile Kira breaks off from his stalemate with Legend. He says that this is impossible with flash backs of Rau's Providence. Kira exclaims that Rey is him. Rey says Kira finally understands and says that he is Rau Le Creusset. Kira's eyes widen. The DRAGOONs continue to pelt Freedom with beams. Rey says that for humanity's dreams and future, Kira Yamato this must be done and Kira must be eliminated together with him and Rau. The DRAGOONs combine for another large pelt of beams that Kira attempts to block with his shield. He gets blown back slightly. Kira is still in shock Rey was Rau. Legend prepares another beam barage, as Kira gets knocked back again. Lacus suddenly enters Seed mode sensing Kira in danger. Rey says for the sake of the future, Freedom must be brought down. Kira fires his Toros Cannon which Rey blocks and gets blown back.
Rey gets a flashback between him and Dullindal. He says Dullindal where Rau was. Dullindal replies that Rau is no where and says that Rey is Rau. He hands Rey the pill box. He says it is Rey's destiny. Shinn and Athrun continue clashing blades as Luna watches from her damaged Impulse. Athrun's saber manages to slice apart Shinn's anti-Ship sword. Shinn is stunned and amazed. Kira continues facing off with Rey, saying why he's doing this again.
Another flashback with Dullindal and Rey is seen. Dullindal says that Rey cannot run away from himself. They cannot go back into the past, so they must end this now. The humans and world shall be restored to it's former self. Back to Shinn and Athrun, Shinn unleashes his Beam Boomerangs and throws them at Athrun. Athrun deflects one with his shield and kicks another with his Knee-Cutter. Kira says to Rey that it's wrong and blasts down 2 more DRAGOONs with his beam rifles. Rey sends more, and Kira takes down another 4 with his rifles. Kira says that Rey's life is his own and not Rau's. Kira positions his DRAGOONs and HiMATs Legend, leaving only the cockpit intact. Rey screams as explosions occur besides him.
The Archangel is still chased by the Minerva with constant exchange of fire. Murrue asks about Athrun. Miriallia says that they can't determine where he is. Mwu messages in and says that he is going. He commands the Murasame team to follow him. Back to Shinn and Athrun again, Shinn yells and asks why. He uses his beam cannon to fire at Athrun and is blocked. Athrun says again that he doesn't want to fight either him or Lunamaria. Both of them seem surprised. He says that it will accomplish nothing. Shinn responds with "what?" and is as confused as ever. Athrun asks what future is Shinn trying to accomplish by killing. He asks if he really desires this type of power. Shinn gets memories of Stellar and Mayu. Shinn unleashes his Wings of Light and prepares to use his Beam Palm attack, still disbelieving Athrun.
Lunamaria's damage Impulse steps in Shinn's way and tells Shinn to stop. He envisions Mayu and Stellar's figure besides Impulse. He imagines Freedom as well and yells for it to stop. He pushes forward with his attack. Luna is stunned as she watches Shinn close in. Athrun enters Seed mode and blocks the attack with his shield. Athrun calls him an idiot and knocks Destiny's hand away. He brandishes both sabers in his hands and slashes down as Shinn prepares to use the beam palm with both hands. His hands hold off the beam sabers but eventually gets sliced through. Athrun then uses his right Knee-Cutter as Shinn attempts to kick Justice. Destiny's right leg gets cut apart and explodes. Shinn gets knocked back, as pieces of his cockpit begins shattering. The remains of Destiny falls down onto the moon. Lunamaria yells for Shinn as she pilots Impulse towards him. Athrun seems remorseful.
The Akatsuki continues to fight off ZAKU Warriors. He asks how they could stop the Requiem and complains why all the ZAKUs are trying to protect that. Two Gunners attempt to fire at Akatsuki, but the blasts reflect back to the owners, destroying them. The Minerva's Tristan cannons manage to take down one of Archangel's Gottfrieds and some ORB mechanics. The Archangel counters with it's Corintos. Minerva's CIWS intercepts. Archangel flies upsides down above the Minerva and fires it's Valiants, taking down both of Minerva's Tristans and damaging the sidelaunchers. Justice detaches it's backpack as it digs through the back thrusters of the Minerva. The Minerva crashes onto the surface of the moon.
In Messiah, a ZAFT soldier reports that ORB mobile suits are in the way of the Requiem cannon and Station 2 has reached it's destination. Dullindal commands Neo GENESIS fire at the ORB forces. Dullindal asks about the status of Legend and Destiny. Both are reported to have lost their signals. Rey is seen in the remains of Legend, with a hole on his helmet. Freedom closes in on the Messiah. Dullindal was surprised that Rey lost. Rey regains conciousness. Kira shoots down a ZAKU near the Eternal and calls out to Lacus to release METEOR. (Someone explain why she has grey pupils?) Dullindal says that the failure is due to Kira and Lacus. Kira docks with METEOR. Rey uses the remaining power in Legend to return to Messiah. Dullindal says that he will deal with them later.
Neo GENESIS' preparations are ready. All troops are informed about Neo GENESIS. Yzak quickly messages the Eternal. Waltfeld exclaims that it is Yzak Jule. Yzak tells them Messiah is preparing to fire, he tells them to quickly evade the blast. Neo GENESIS fires as the Akatsuki and Infinite Justice barely escapes. Murrue tells them to put the thrusters on maximum and dodge. Several Nazca ships explode. Arthur exclaims that the Lapis and Bluetenga were destroyed. Talia is surprised at Dullindal. Rey lets off a smile with blood running down his face. Requiem's countdown has begun in T-35 seconds. Station 2 is positioned. The lock on the Requiem cannon is released. Akatsuki and Justice quickly fly towards the Positron Deflector on Requiem.
Kira in METEOR flies towards the Messiah. The Requiem begins gathering energy. Athrun uses his shield infront of him and penetrates the Positron Deflector. Akatsuki does likewise. (He actually disrupts the beam so it lets him pass). Athrun unleashes his backpack with the beam-cutters unleashed. The Akatsuki unleashes it's DRAGOONs. The Fatum backpack flies into the core reactor as it begins exploding. Athrun and Mwu begin their escape with the explosion behind them.
Shinn is seen naked in a dream. He sees Stellar once again (who also is naked). Stellar calls out Shinn's name till he awakens. Shinn replies with Stellar. He asks what Stellar wanted and that she isn't supposed to be around anymore. Stellar said it was alright and that she wanted to see him for a little while. Shinn replies "Only a little while?". Stellar replies, "yes, now. But let's meet again tomorrow." She tells him that she is happy and is going to wait for him tomorrow. She repeats the words tomorrow as she fades. The Akatsuki and Justice make it out of Requiem as the explosion shoots up a flare into space. Dullindal is shocked and says it was impossible.
Luna exits her Gundam as she lands and pulls Shinn out. Shinn lays on Luna's lap unconcious. Shinn begins waking up again and says the name, "Stellar.." Luna calls out Shinn's name as he eyes open. Luna is relieved as Shinn replies with her name. Luna hugs Shinn's helmet. Shinn stares at the bright flare from Requiem. Luna replies that the Requiem didn't hit ORB. Shinn seems surprised.
Kira begins dismantling the Messiah, by destroying it's outer ring with his Beam Sword. Together with the Eternal, he launches his missiles, blasting the surface of Messiah. Kira flies inside with Freedom HiMATing it's interior. Dullindal continues sitting in his chair with explosions around him. Shinn begins crying on Luna's lap. He tries getting up and puts his arm on Luna for support. Luna cries as he watches him and smiles as she rests his head on her chest. She hugs him.
Arthur says to Talia that the Messiah is being taken down. Talia says that the war is over for them and asks all forces to retreat. Arthur acknowledge. Murrue watches from above and salutes to Talia. Talia says that Arthur is in charge now and says she has to do something. Arthur reluctantly accepts. Talia apologizes and leaves. Arthur salutes Talia as she leaves. Kira enters the Messiah control room, where Dullindal continues to sit. Dullindal turns around and greets Kira. He says that it's unexpected for him to come here. Kira takes out a gun and points it at Dullindal. Dullindal asks if it was okay for Kira to do that and points his own gun back at Kira. Rey begins running towards the room, with dead ZAFT soldiers all around him. In a ZAFT escape pod, Talia is seen in a normal suit entering Messiah.
Dullindal tells him to stop and it's beyond the point to go back. The world will sink back to what it was before. Kira replies that it may be so, but they can also choose a resolution that doesn't result in that way. Dullindal says that no one can choose. Humanity will always continue to repeat mistakes. No one can assure that it won't happen again. Dullindal says that it includes both him and Lacus. He says that they understand nothing. Rey is seen in the back, lurking behind a cylinder.
Dullindal smiles at this. Kira replies that he understands what can be understood and what could be changed. He says the hope for the future will live on. A world that doesn't change is not their desire. Dullindal says that it's a response he expected from the Ultimate Coordinator. Kira replies the one that is proud is Dullindal. Kira says that he is the same as Lacus or anyone else. And that is the reason why he must shoot. Talia emerges from the door, with a gun in her hand as well. Dullindal says that between the both of them, he wonders which people would choose. He says that after Dullindal is shot the world will turn to chaos once again. Kira says that he is prepared for it. Rey holds up his gun and prepares to fire. Kira says that he will fight. A gun shot is heard.
Kira's eyes widen in disbelief as with Talia. Dullindal falls back with his chest gushing with blood. Kira turns around to see Rey shaking with the gun in his hands. He falls back to the wall whimpering. He goes to the ground crying. Talia yells out Rey's name. Messiah's interior begin exploding. Talia goes over to Dullindal and rests his head on her lap. Dullindal asks if Talia was the one that fired. Talia says no, Rey was the one. Dullindal is surprised and Rey yells out the name "Gil". He apologizes. Rey begins to cry and says about tomorrow. Kira goes up to Talia but Talia points the gun at him. She says that he should go. She will acompany Dullindal till death. Talia says that Kira should forward a message to Murrue. Talia has a boy and she should visit him when she has time. Kira says he understands and turns to leave. Dullindal apologizes to Talia but he says that he is happy. Talia wonders if it was fate for what must happen. Kira quickly hops back into Strike Freedom. Dullindal tells Talia to stop.
Talia asks Rey to come over. Messiah begins exploding with everyone waiting outside. Talia says that everything is okay now and he did his best. Rey calls out "Mother" to Talia and cires in her arms. Messiah explodes with Strike Freedom barely making it out on time. Kira watches from outside as Messiah crashes into the surface of the moon. Luna and Shinn also watch. Strike Freedom, Infinite Justice, Murasames, Zakus, DOMs, Akatsuki, Yzak and Dearka's ZAKU and GOUFs, Eternal, Archangel, Kusangi and other ORB ships watch from the distance. Close ups on Athrun, Kira. We see the wrekage of Destiny and Impulse and a GOUF drifting in space, with his Beam Sword impailed inside himself with a shattered Requiem and the Earth. The credits roll as we get to see a black and white clip show. (Covers GSD from begining till end) At the end we see Strike Freedom launch from the Eternal.

Rating: For a GSD-verse episode, I'd give 5/5 For an anime in general? Bad ending. 3/5 For a Gundam ending? Horrible. 1/5
