Sypnosis: Shin and Rey activate their respective Gundams (appearantly one of them uses the standard Nuclear-type Gundam Acronym in their startup OS). As Rey launches, Shin is reminded his incidents with Athrun (his slapping, his talk with him on the deck of the Minerva, and Athrun punching him). Shin launches Destiny into the air as he unleashes the wings of Destiny which gives off a purple aura.
Several EA officers gather to watch the chase of Athrun's Gouf and Destiny and Legend in it's pursuit, we get to see half the face of Kisaka. We are shown more of the EA officers gather around as well as Vino and Lunamaria whom are both clueless about the incident. Chairman Dullindal is in conference with many ZAFT officers, and Meer peeps from them in a crack of the wall. The Chairman gets in communication of Rey and Shin. Rey reports of Meyrin being with Athrun. Talia enters the meeting room with the ZAFT officers. Dullindal gives the okay to kill Meyrin along with Athrun. Talia is outraged.
Shin is still unable to accept the fact his foe is Athrun and Meyrin. Rey fires the opening shot with Legend's rifle, Athrun nimbly dodges the attack in the Gouf. Destiny joins in the shooting as Shin hesistantly shoots at Athrun. He further remembers Athrun and Meyrin's face. Athrun dodges and returns the fire with his beam fingers. Destiny activates it's Beam Shield to easily block the attack. Athrun attempts to talk to Shin, but Rey cuts them off. He attacks with the Legend DRAGOONs (which are still attached to his backpack). The beams combine for a larger beam, which Athrun manages to dodge.
Athrun again returns fire with his beam fingers, and is again blocked by Legend's Beam Shield. Rey smirks slightly. Destiny goes in pursuit with his rifle again, but Athrun unleashes the Heat Rod, wrapping Destiny's rifle with it. Athrun then destroys the rifle. Legend comes around again with his rifle. Athrun blocks the attack with his shield. Rey unleashes his Beam Javelin and approaches Athrun. Athrun unleashes the Gouf's beam sword. Rey lets out an attack with the Javelin (which is long enough to be a Beam Saber) and Athrun blocks with his shield. He then attempts to attack Legend with the sword, but Legend easily evades the attacks.
Destiny stops in it's tracks. Shin is unable to decide what to do. Thoughts twirl around in his cockpit, with mainly visions of the Chairman. Confused and angry, Shin activates his Seed Mode and takes out his Sword. He breaks up the brawl between Athrun and Rey. Athrun attempts to latch onto the Sword with his heat rod, but Destiny evades it, and instead grabs onto it. Destiny unleashes it's Beam Palm attack, destroying the head rod. Athrun retracts the remaining portion of the rod. Shin let's out a powerful strike with the sword, which cuts apart the Gouf's shield and the lower portion of it's left arm. Shin let's off another attack that destroys the Gouf's right arm. Shin gets visions of his sister, the Chairman, and Stellar. He unleashes a forward attack (like the one he used to destroy Freedom), aiming at the cockpit of the Gouf. It hits to the left of the cockpit. Shin lets go of the sword and the Gouf also falls with it. As it lands in the water there is an exlosion.
Shin remains angry and saddened in the cockpit. We see the remains of the Gouf in the ocean. Shin lets off a tear as he and Rey returns to base. A pair of infra-red binoculars is seen watching the two leave. We see the behind of Kisaka and zoom out to a rescue boat.
We are again at the meeting room, Meer is still seen watching from the crack of the wall with her Haro. Someone reports to the Chairman that the spy threat has been eliminated. Legend and Destiny returns to the launching bay. Meer stares at disapointment after she learns of Athrun's demise. Lunamaria is also unable to accept the fact Mayrin and Athrun are dead. Some ZAFT searchplanes and Goohns are searching the waters, but they report the cockpit has sunk.
Dullindal has a meeting with Rey and Shin the next morning. He asks if Shin was okay about the fate of Athrun. Shin reluctantly says yes. Rey comments how it was Shin who pulled the trigger against Athrun. Dullindal seems pleased. Dullindal explains to them that Athrun also tried to persuade Lacus (Meer) to leave with him. Dullindal says that with Freedom gone and the Archangel presumingly gone, Athrun was planning to help Logos with the data. Dullindal announces his plan for the assault on Heaven's Base.
Up in space, we see several ZAFT warships and Zakus flying about. In Gibralatar, Destiny and Legend land on the Minerva. Vino stares with saddened eyes seeing Destiny. He talks with Youlan about them being Rey and Shin's new units. Vino says Meyrin's name (in an attempt to say that Meyrin was killed by Destiny), but Youlan stops him as Shin exits from Destiny. Shin stares away from them and walks off with Rey.
Talia has a meeting with Arthur. Talia seems troubled by Dullindal's decisions earlier. While walking down the halls of the Minerva, Rey and Shin meet up with Lunamaria. Shin walks on ahead and passes Lunamaria without looking at her. Right as he passes her he whispers that he's sorry. Lunamaria begins crying and lays her head on Shin's back. Shin is surprised and turns around. He grabs her shoulders, and brings her to his chest. They cry together. Rey watches and turns around to leave.
ZAFT prepares it's assault, with many submarines, Babis, and the Minerva. A meeting on the bridge of the Minerva with Dullindal, Talia, and other ZAFT captains commence as they plan their attack. In space we see Lacus speaking with DaCosta. On Earth we see the rescue plane with Kisaka at the bridge. In the infirmary, we see Meyrin and Athrun hospitalized. The plane takes off. At an underwater dock, the Archangel enters (what appears to be ORB territory). Meeting them stands Erica Simmons and several ORB mechanics. Miriallia alerts the bridge of a ZAFT Ultimatum to Logos.
Kira, Cagalli, and Murrue turn to see. Djbiril in Heaven's Base also sees it as well as Lacus in the Eternal. Lacus mentions something about ORB. Shin enters his sleeping quaters as Rey turns around to watch him. Shin lays on bed and grabs his cellphone. He has a flashback of his sister and Stellar as he grabs the phone close to him and cries. We see the faces of Kira, Lacus, Cagalli, Meer, and finally Athrun with signs of life still in him.
Review: What is Meer doing!? Peeping on the chairman? Well appearantly she's matched up with the main characters of Destiny, you go girl! Angst away! Shin had to go to seed mode to dispose of Athrun even though it was clear Athrun had no chance anyways. Needless? So we get a peak at how the new Gundams work, beam shield = awesome, as well as the Palm Beam.
